This is a time of rapid change and heightened anxiety for many people as we face the uncertain impacts of COVID-19.
We can work collectively and adhere to best practices to keep our family, friends, neighbours and clients healthy and well and support others in ways we safely can. There is a lot of information being shared on a regular basis to help you understand the situation and take precautions to safeguard your health and the health of others.
We encourage you to follow updates from reputable sources and to do your best to respond to this global situation with a sense of community and compassion for the many complex ways it will affect us now and into the future.
We are more than happy to speak with you over the phone, via text, via email, or through another online platform.
Please stay home if at all possible. Spread hope, not germs!

March 15th, 2020 message: “The Golden Food Bank will remain open as long as it is safe to do so. However, due to Provincial Health authority guidelines, we are changing food distribution procedures in the food bank to limit contact as much as possible. This may result in less personal selection for clients during the pandemic, but we ask for your understanding as it will help us keep our doors open.
Please, if you are feeling sick stay at home. If you need food, contact us to have a hamper delivered.
Golden Family Centre
March 16th, 2020 message: “After careful consideration and because we need to do our part in slowing the spread of the coronavirus in our community, the Golden Family Center has decided to close our office doors for now.
We continue to work though, and we offer phone and video appointments to our clients, as much as possible. We will get in touch with our existing clients over the next few days. Feel free to call or email us with any questions.
For those of you who have booked intake appointments, we will do those appointments by phone as well.
We will post more information about our Drop-in Clinic tomorrow, as we are deciding how to approach that particular program.
We realize that for many, not being able to see their counsellor in person is not ideal. It is not the way we normally would want to work, but our world is looking differently at the moment, and we are adjusting to keep everyone as safe as possible.”
